Basic fantasy golf tips for this week AND top rankings

OHL Classic Updated: Tuesday, November 10th, 2015 Once Mexico’s only PGA Tour event moved to the wrap-around season with full Fed-ex Cup points, the field has improved. It’s not world class by any means, but a lot of good players along with some rookies that are hoping to take advantage of an easier course with an easier field to get those coveted Fed-ex Cup points and tour exemptions. This week our stats are straight-forward, with a full course history, a 131-player field and a normal 36-hole cut. Once we get into the members area, we’ll let you know more about which statistics we’ll be using and some important news that could affect the outcome of this one. Value Matrix If you like value, then Smylie way down in Tier 4 is your guy. In the top Tier, it’s hard to pass on the play of Jason Bohn (and his love of this course). But no one loves the course more than Chris Stroud this week, which is why he is topping the Tier 2 section. A note that Fred Funk made it into the bottom Tier, even though his win in 2007 pre-dates our statistics. Something to consider at that price and the need to be accurate rather than long at Mayakoba.

We offer our Value Matrix for everyone to view. In this unique matrix, we give a break-down of value picks based on DraftKing’s prices and our overall matrix results. We organize the players into a 5-tier system based on salary for that week and give them a star-rating. Unlike most fantasy stat sites that spew the results of all players over the last 10 years for you to weed through, we only include players entered into the tournament and condense our matrix into just the last 5 years. Why only 5? Because golf courses change and players age or their game can drop off. We put greater weight on the most recent years and concentrate on several key areas, including top 10 finishes, top 20 finishes and cut makers. Our Course matrix comes up with a clear picture of who has been out-performing the field on the coming week’s course. box2 Statistical Matrix Fantasy golf has an enormous amount of statistics to analyze. We pick what we feel are the best indicators each week and build our Statistical Matrix based on these numbers. From the obvious, like shots gained putting & shots gained tee-to-green, to the course-specific not-so-obvious like par-5 birdie or better or going for the green, we cover the numbers that indicate a player’s ability to shoot low that week. We absolutely love statistics and can’t wait to make our weekly adjustments based on the tournament course. box3 Hot/Season Matrix The Hot Matrix and Season Matrix are much more simple, but just as important. We look at who’s been the hottest over the last 10 tournaments putting more mathematical weight on the latest tournaments. We also look at season results to determine who’s playing well, making cuts and racking up top 10 finishes regardless of their track record on the course. They get a bump in the overall Golf Matrix if they’ve been making cuts and scoring low or have been playing hot.
