professional soccer player who has a net worth of $250 million. Every
year Cristiano Ronaldo earns earns a base salary of $40 million. Off the
field he earns an additional $30 million from endorsements. Cristiano
was born on February 5th, 1985 in Funchal Madeira, Portugal. His father
José Dinis Aveiro was a gardener and his mother Maria Dolores dos Santos
Aveiro was a cook. The second name of Ronaldo was given to him because
of his father's favorite actor, Ronald Reagan. Ronaldo has three other
siblings.
He began playing soccer at the age of eight with
Andorinha. In 1995, he signed with Nacional. He would take them to the
championships. Next he signed with the Sporting Club de Portugal. He

scored his first goal with a free kick on November 1st, 2003. After that
his skills on the soccer field began to shine. In 2005 fans voted him
FIFpro special young player of the year and very quickly, Ronaldo became
the team's star. In 2007 he signed a five year $31 million extension
with Man United which would pay him roughly $120,000 per week. This
contract made him the highest paid member in the team's history. He
ended the 2007 season with a slew of awards including the PFA Player's
Player of the year and PFA fan's player of the year. The 2008 season
started off rocky with Ronaldo head butting an opponent. This resulted
in him being banned from three matches. Once allowed back on the field
Ronaldo proved to be a huge player for United. On March 19th, 2008 he
was named team captain. As captain he would go on to lead the team the
Champions League finals, where they beat Chelsea. On June 26th, 2009 it
was announced that Ronaldo would be leaving Manchester United to play
for Real Madrid. His new contract was worth $150 million and paid
Ronaldo $25 million per year in salary. He made his debut with Real
Madrid in July of that year and continues to play for them to this day.
