Phil Collins Net Worth: Phil Collins is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor and writer who has a net worth of $250 million dollars. A drummer, singer-songwriter, singer, and composer, Phil Collins has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide both as a solo artist and as a member of the band, Genesis. He has received seven Grammy Awards and an Oscar for his work.
Born Philip David Charles Collins on January 30, 1951, in Hounslow, Middlesex, London, England, he is known both as a drummer and vocalist for English progressive rock group Genesis and as a solo artist. In his active musical career, from 1968 to 2011, Collins sang the lead vocals on dozens of hit albums and singles in the UK and US. Collins started his professional music career in 1970 as a drummer of the group Genesis, which had already released two albums. While in Genesis, he also served as a backing vocalist for front man Peter Gabriel. However, he did get the chance to sing lead on two songs, "For Absent Friends" from 1971′s Nursery Cryme album and "More Fool Me" from 1973′s Selling England by the Pound. Once Gabriel left the group, Collins also became the group's vocalist. Sounding "more like Gabriel than Gabriel did", he saw the release of numerous albums as Genesis' singer, including A Trick of the Tail (1976),…And Then There Were Three… (1978), Duke (1980), Abacab (1981), Genesis (1983), Invisible Touch (1986) and We Can't Dance (1991). After Phil Collins left the band in 1996, he embarked on a successful solo career. His solo songs, which were often about lost love and generally featured his distinctive gated reverb drum sound, ranged from the atmospheric "In the Air Tonight", dance pop tuned "Sussudio", piano-driven ballad "Against All Odds" to politically themed "Another Day in Paradise". His solo work brought him both fans' following and accolades, including seven Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards, three American Music Awards, an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards as well as a Disney LegendAward. Not very favorite among media, Collins denied speculation that his retirement from music in 2011 was "because of the bad press over the years". The real reason behind Collins' withdrawal from music was because he wanted to be a full-time father to his two sons.
